On February 26 the middle level forensic season officially ended with the Level 2 tournament at Eau Claire DeLong Middle School. With over 950 students representing 34 schools, the tournament was an extremely large event. Schools as far away as Superior and Pittsville (near Marshfield) attended.
Viking Middle School made a marvelous showing with one of the three largest teams at the tournament. With a total of 54 students in twenty-eight entries, B-W had a great night. Every student who participated had at least one A in the three round tournament. Four students, Abby Hanson, Anna Perry, Lauren Zupfer in playacting and Zach Walker in prose had ratings of straight A plus. Also receiving at least one A plus that evening were: Colton Langer, Griffin Jensen, Caroline Dobson, Hannah Phelps, Brooke Mikla, Megan Jacobson, Abbie Geurkink, Hanna Zevenbergen, Lindsey Bundgaard, Jordyn Iverson, Hailey DeMotts, Sydney Dumond, and Alayna Shaw.
The coaches Kirstin Thompson, Jennifer Smith, and Roxi Wakeen would like to thank the Viking faculty who were so supportive by giving us listening audiences during advisory and special thanks to Sue Zwald, Kelli Larson, Kate Jennings, Debby Walters and Colleen Leavitt for help with judging. Weare so pleased with the outcome of a truly great season. Congratulations, Viking Middle School Forensic Team!!

The team of sixty one students had great success as they prepare for the next level of competition. Students from Ellsworth, New Richmond, River Falls, and St. Croix Central added to the competition.
Viking students earned forty-eight blue ribbons and thirteen red ribbons. To earn a blue, students must have scores of an A on at least two of the three rounds of competition. Coaches, Kirstin Thompson, Jennifer Smith, and Roxi Wakeen were excited to announce that Zach Walker, a seventh grader, was the only student out of one hundred and forty-seven entries in the tournament to earn straight A+ ratings. To see how each individual did please see the document "forensics" in the documents section on this page. |
